KPMG’s Office of General Counsel currently is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal support to all business units in connection with the development, licensing and protection of technology products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating various technology agreements including software license agreements, maintenance agreements, SaaS agreements, trial agreements, professional services agreements, cloud agreements, and data license agreements from both a customer and vendor's perspective
  • Counseling on the legal issues associated with the implementation and use of technology products in connection with the company's existing products and services; Counseling the firm on critical legal issues relating to the protection of KPMG intellectual property
  • Coordinating with other departments and specialists regarding risk management, privacy, litigation, compliance, information security, and technology development;
  • Working with business personnel to identify and analyze legal issues associated with cutting edge technologies such as block chain, robotics, and artificial intelligence
  • Advising on the transfer and sharing of intellectual property throughout the KPMG network, including drafting appropriate agreements
  • Working on cross-functional teams to provide technology and IP advice with respect to litigation matters, risks to the firm, M&A transactions and KPMG policies

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or LLM degree from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice law in the U.S.
  • Minimum 6 years of legal experience with a focus in technology, intellectual property, procurement, or privacy issues
  • Experience advising on various legal risks and obligations relating to technology and intellectual property matters including drafting and negotiating technology agreements, identifying IP issues in M&A transactions, counseling clients on the risks associated with the development of technology, and reviewing open source licenses
  • Familiarity with patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights
  • Thought leadership and strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with internal and external clients
